Europa está entrando en una nueva fase de modernización de su infraestructura financiera mediante la tokenización.
La tecnología ya está lista. La expansión de los proyectos de stablecoins en euros y el avance del euro digital muestran la ambición de reducir la dependencia del dólar y construir una infraestructura monetaria soberana.
La estrategia europea combina iniciativas clave:
• Infraestructuras digitales del euro basadas en DLT
• Integración de la inversión y los mercados de capitales, canalizando el ahorro hacia la inversión productiva
El mercado necesita ahora simplicidad, eficiencia y seguridad.
El reto consiste en construir una infraestructura coherente, robusta y escalable que opere sin fricciones en toda Europa y también a nivel global.
El debate, sin embargo, es más profundo: soberanía económica, identidad y valores.
Si Europa logra integrar innovación, privacidad y gobernanza democrática, podrá convertir su modelo humanista en una ventaja competitiva global.

Tres claves del debate:
Finanzas integradas: los productos financieros deben estar donde están los clientes, abriendo oportunidades de M&A para la banca.
IA y tokenización: junto con las stablecoins, están sentando las bases de una nueva infraestructura financiera, con fuerte impulso en activos reales.

My own contribution: I argue that these new threats bring the digital euro and credible backstops to the forefront. If designed right, the digital euro can strengthen Europe’s resilience and global standing. But resilience also requires robust firewalls — and this is where the ESM plays a key role.”

Ángela Álvarez, Fundadora y CEO de Aglaia Capital y de Action Monkey, fue invitada por el European Stability Mechanism (ESM), a participar como ponente en el European Economic Association (EEA) Congress, en el panel organizado por el ESM “Crisis Preparedness for Europe: Financial and Payments Systems Facing New Risks,” con Rolf Strauch , Chief Economist at the ESM , como Chair, y junto a sus colegas ponentes Emmanuelle Assouan, Managing Director for Financial Stability and Operations at Banque de France y Francesco Mazzaferro, Head of the ESRB Secretariat at the European Central Bank ( European Central Bank).
Su ponencia se centró en la evolución del panorama cripto, la dominancia de las stablecoins denominadas en USD en los sistemas de pago internacionales, la fuerza de la tokenización de fondos y activos, y sus perspectivas, así como sus implicaciones para los sistemas de pagos y las instituciones financieras, y la necesidad de impulsar cripto-railes en euro, para impulsar la competitividad y la resiliencia.
Resaltó su visión de avanzar en el proyecto del «Capital Markets Union» (CMU), un mercado de capitales único para Europa, uniendo las mejores prácticas de Europa, y tokenizado.
Presentó su visión sobre un euro digital centrado en las necesidades del mercado actual, un «human-centric digital euro», con características adecuadas al mercado, un «estándar CBDC» cuyo diseño pueda servir también para otros países.
